Let me tell you a little about myself and my background. Currently, I live in
San Antonio, Texas where I have opened up my athletic performance therapy
practice. My primary focus is on injury prevention, sport recovery, acute and
chronic pain treatment, and sports performance enhancement. In addition to
my athletic performance therapy practice, I have been responsible for
Spark Motion (www.sparkmotion.com) is a leader in motion analysis technology on the mobile platform. Spark Motion was built out of necessity by performance and healthcare professionals in the field who knew there was a better way to work with athletes and patients using the latest tablet technology. The Spark Pro app with a HIPAA Cloud by Spark Motion is the only mobile motion analysis system specifically designed to be powerful enough for industry leading professionals and organizations, yet accessible to all performance coaches, trainers and medical practitioners.
My involvement in professional sports with Spark Motion has allowed me the
opportunity to observe and work with many elite coaches, athletic trainers and
athletes. Over the past years, I became more and more fascinated with the
parts and pieces of the body and how these all seem to work together to
produce movement. This educational quest led me to rolling up my sleeves
and pursuing my Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT).
While achieving my LMT certification, I learned of a unique therapy used for
thousands of years in oriental medicine, known as Cupping (Myofascial
Decompression). Soon after, I became trained and certified cupping
practitioner in this ancient modality modernized. Taking this ancient healing art
and integrating it into my therapy has been an marvelous addition to manual
treatments producing incredible results. These early positive affects in tissue
I experienced in the beginning continues to inspire my educational journey
every day in clinical kinesiology, physiology of joints, and neuromuscular
stabilization. These components are the foundation to understanding the
interdependence and interlinking of the skeleton, joints and musculature during
For every healthcare provider, a thorough knowledge of the location and
interrelationship of the body's structures is essential. I have learned that effective performance therapy consists of any and all techniques that might best serve the needs of my clients / athletes. This understanding has lead me to additional hundreds and hundreds of hours every year in continuing education, trainings, case study work and certifications in such techniques as Integrated Manual Orthopedic Therapy, Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, Kinesio Taping Practitioner and National Academy of Sports Medicine - CPT. ...and currently working on my Masters in Myoskeletal Techniques as well as have completed my MAT® Specialist and Jumpstart Certifications - Muscle Activation Technique® and am pursuing the next level, MAT® Master Specialist.
My therapy focus is on balancing the body to optimize performance and
to identify energy leakages before they become injuries. Even the smallest
imbalance in an athlete's foot strike could, over time, create a chain reaction
of physical breakdowns (aka - Ascending Syndromes). Just as a muscle
stretches, a joint moves, so does fascia and the nervous system - and you
can identify these components in movement, muscle testing and tissue tone.
Proper biomechanics involve muscles, tendons and ligaments being not only
symmetrical, but multi-directional in strength and stability.
Living an active sports lifestyle myself, I am passionate about helping my
clients and athletes live the best quality of life through regular integrated
manual muscle therapy. Choosing a manual therapist is a very important
decision. Exceptional advanced soft tissue therapy is paramount. In
addition to developing a customized treatment program that deals with your specific health and lifestyle concerns, I try to be as flexible as possible in scheduling your sessions at time and location that is best for you.
You may already know that muscle therapy is as vital to a healthy mind and body as is regular exercise and diet. All too often, people have demanding lives and turn to temporary solutions that do not necessarily promote recovery, healing or wellness. I'd like to introduce a better choice.
